August 11, 2004 (Orlando, FL)- Worldwide Interactive Services, Inc. has successfully completed their semi-annual Disaster Recovery Plan testing. The results of these tests are used to help operation specialists prepare for the sequence of events that would follow a real disaster, and develop a plan to sustain or regain production during a power outage or system failure as quickly as possible.
Worldwide began the testing with a mock disaster, in which the main production environment experienced a total loss of power. The main production environment is located in a private co-location facility, which is built to be virtually disaster proof; and is equipped to handle a complete power failure for more than a week.
Located at the corporate headquarters is a complete replica of the main production environment. The Operations Department has developed a procedure that moves production from the affected facility to the working one; while clients experience little or no change in services during the transition. In fact, the Worldwide Client Support Center reported a minimal increase in call activity during the testing and all services were restored in a very timely manner.
John D. Pantaleon, President, spoke about the company’s plans to build a third production facility on the west coast, “In the first quarter of 2005, Worldwide will further reduce our vulnerability by building a third production environment within the Northwest region that will sustain production during a disaster that affects the entirety of the Southeast region; and the same will be true in the reversed situation.”
Worldwide’s Disaster Recovery Plan testing is done twice a year, to meet requirements of routine SAS 70 audits. For more information on the annual Disaster Recovery Plan testing, please call the Client Support Center at 888.596.4947.
